How to obtain a police certificate?

What is a police certificate?

A police certificate is a copy of your criminal record or a declaration of the absence of any criminal record. Police certificates are different in each country and territory and may be called police clearance certificates, good conduct certificates, judicial record extracts, etc.  

In order to obtain your police certificate, in person, in Canada, you need to:

provide documentation

provide at least two (2) official government issued identification with photographs such as passport, driver's license, Indian status card, provincial photo card, PR card, NEXUS card, FAST Pass, etc. Non-photo identification such as birth certificate, immigration permit paper, citizenship certificate.

Note - Health Cards (issued by Canadian province or territory) & Social Insurance Number (SIN) are not accepted.
